It appears that my blog is one of the 5 finalists in the MADS 2010 Funniest Blog awards (gulp) and that is all thanks to you amazing lot - so thank you, thank you, thank you. From the minute I bowed to public pressure and started this thing up, it's you lot that have kept me going. Even if it has meant complete strangers approaching me from behind at buffet tables and saying 'I love your blog, especially the one about your piles.......'.
However - it ain't over until the mad lady is blowing her vouchers on Strongbow (only joking - I need some curtains in my bedroom so I stop scaring early morning dog walkers with my 'womanly self') and the winner is decided purely on number of votes so if you can I'd be ever so grateful indeed if you went to the website and in the 'vote for the finalists' bit, do your stuff in the Funniest category.....
CLICK HERE TO VOTE FOR SLIGHTLY SOUTH OF SANITY
If you vote I promise to keep up the hard work and mis-use hair removal cream, misplace my balls, misname homosexual chickens after religious icons, mis-locate wigs into the wheels of my pram and misplace my mind well into my old age and all whilst never EVER misplacing my sense of humour.
Thank you.
It's a one-horse race!!
ReplyDeleteVote Stickhead, you know it makes sense!
And she's the only one you'll vote for this week who will stick to her election promises (especially the one about the Strongbow...)
VOTE VOTE VOTE!
Is it too late for a televised debate...?
I'd love to do a televised debate! Who with though!? My reflection.....
ReplyDeleteI've tried to vote but the site isn't accepting votes yet.
ReplyDeleteI'll try again.
Sue xx
Thanks Susie! I 'think' it's now working so you should be able to vote.
ReplyDeleteWell done you. Aren't you up for blogger of the year as well?! I am definitely voting for you in both categories as yours is the blog I know best.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think it all started (kind of) with some mugs of gluhwein and a station loo.... ;)
PS Voting opened at 10am this morning.
ReplyDeleteYay!Thanks Kate! Yes I am for blogger of the year too (blush blush blush) but that is decided by judges - not the voting public - so we just have to pray that their not easily offended by crap Iggle Piggle cakes.... If I one as iphone I could update my blog from anywhere! Well unless I end up back in the mental unit in which case they'd confiscate it ;).
ReplyDeleteLOL. Yes. I hope you do win. Are you going to the awards ceremony? I know a couple of the other nominees via Twitter. I sometimes plug your blog on there. If you're not on Twitter already, you should be. If you get there, you can follow me @kateab (of course).
ReplyDeleteThere is an awards CEREMONY! OMG - I had no idea!! I'm slightly worried I will be photographed and my mum/dad/mother-in-law/special pasta sister-in-law etc might find out about me and my blog! But yeah - I'd go if I won!
ReplyDeleteI'm not on Twitter - I haven't managed to figure it out yet (I'm a bit slow on these things - it took me about 3 years to start the blog!) but I'm sure will be one day!
Oh fantastic - fame at last! You get my vote, lady. Where else can a person come for stories of random badger-tossing? You MUST win!!!
ReplyDeleteVoted. It's a no-brainer - you win. Along with the Not Waving Lady up there, you never fail to brighten my day and put a smile on a sometimes (lots recently) downturned mouth. Many thanks xxx
ReplyDeleteYou have to win - I have laughed so much since discovering your blog via a friend. Just have to make sure the boss doesn't hear me! lol Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLynn
me I am that friend as above! you have got to win or I will complain to Chris Evans!
ReplyDeleteI have now voted -worried I might be put on a blacklist though as they wanted my name and email address - why???
ReplyDeleteI shall add your name to my ballot paper tomorrow - I'm voting 'cos women died for us to get the vote so I'm using it - just don't want to vote for any of the candidates - all white, middle aged males!
So don't be surprised if you end up as MP for Henley!

Vote posted! As if I would vote for anyone else, you've been brightening my days for nearly six whole years now since our bubba's arrived - R spent the first 4 months screaming and now doesn't stop yabbing...how times haven't changed!!
ReplyDeleteGood Luck, YOU'RE THE BEST!! x
Hey There,
ReplyDeleteBeen a while since I've commented, but still checking daily for updates... You get Northern Irelands vote lady!!
May I also just add... how JEALOUS I am that someone met you... I don't know what I'd do.. I think I'd actually be starstruck.. I don't think I'd be able to speak... maybe faint? would that be weird? Are you going to block me now? *worries*
Always - SB xx
Good luck! Let's hope the result's clearer than the general election...
ReplyDeleteSB - you are making me laugh! Starstruck!?!?! Waaahhhh - does that make me a celeb? Sh1t, I'd better stop taking the recycling bins out in my PJs before I get papped. Oh god - people from my past will start selling my secrets to the tabloids. Actually, what secrets? They're all on here! Seriously though I do get a bit alarmed when I meet people who only know me from here! Firstly I'm like 'oh god, WHAT have I actually written?' - there's loads of stuff I forget but it's on here FOREVER and then I feel they expect me to be all 'boom boom boom ha ha' non-stop funny when I might just want to talk about the weather or where they got their shoes from. It's the pressure darlink, it get's to you....;)
